Your Role & Impact
As a Principal in the Tax Department, you will play a crucial leadership role in managing complex client engagements, ensuring high-quality tax compliance and consulting services. Your responsibilities will include:
• Taking full responsibility for overseeing all aspects of client engagements, including efficient service delivery, scheduling, progress monitoring, and timely delivery of tax solutions.
• Serving as the lead client contact - managing meetings, addressing concerns, and maintaining proactive communication to understand client goals, challenges, and tax needs.
• Reviewing lookbacks prepared by staff, identifying tax savings opportunities, correcting errors, and advising on how to leverage lookbacks for better compliance and strategy.
• Overseeing and reviewing complex tax documents and engagements from start to finish, ensuring compliance and optimal outcomes.
• Applying expertise in lookbacks and other specialized tax procedures to effectively address client needs.
• Handling administrative responsibilities such as billing, managing project timelines, and participating in internal committees.
• Engaging in regular client check-ins, including professional and networking events, to maintain and strengthen relationships.
• Training, mentoring, and developing staff, while providing technical guidance and ensuring deliverables meet firm standards.
• Fostering a collaborative environment and supporting team members’ growth and adherence to firm policies and best practices.
• Identifying new client opportunities and representing the firm at conferences, professional events, and community organizations.
• Contributing to firm-wide initiatives that improve processes and service delivery.
Your Skills & Experience
We’re looking for driven professionals with a passion for excellence. The ideal candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
• A minimum of 7 years of public accounting experience, with significant exposure to tax planning and compliance
• Experience in the construction and real estate industries, with knowledge of tax regulations and strategies relevant to these sectors
• Advanced proficiency with tax software and technology tools used in tax planning and preparation
• Expertise in reviewing complex tax returns and technical aspects of tax compliance
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and develop staff
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
